( Acanthamoeba keratitis associated with tap water use during contact lens cleaning: manufacturer guidelines need to change. Eye &amp; Contact Lens. 2013;39:158-61), защищающей идею исключения водопроводной воды из всех режимов обработки жестких газопроницаемых контактных линз (ЖГПЛ) для снижения риска акантамебного кератита (АК). Позиция, изложенная в публикации, критикуется как недостаточно обоснованная и в значительной мере тенденциозная. Обозначена потенциальная опасность предложений авторов для здоровья пациентов, носящих ЖГПЛ. Основные выводы: 1) в научной литературе отсутствуют доказательства того, что использование воды ТОЛЬКО для споласкивания ЖГПЛ, чтобы надежно удалить ежедневный очиститель, с последующей дезинфекцией, является фактором риска АК; 2) до получения таких доказательств нельзя рекомендовать полное исключение воды из всех систем обработки ЖГПЛ; 3) следует избегать попадания воды под линзу, каким бы способом это ни происходило; 4) любые изменения рекомендаций по уходу за ЖГПЛ не должны создавать новых и, возможно, более серьезных угроз здоровью пациента // Российский офтальмологический журнал, 2016; 1: 78-83.</p></abstract><trans-abstract xml:lang="en"><p>We have critically analyzed the article by J.E. Legarreta et al. (Acanthamoeba Keratitis Associated with Tap Water Use during Contact Lens Cleaning: Manufacturer Guidelines Need to Change. Eye &amp; Contact Lens 2013; 39: 158-61) proposing to exclude tap water from all treatment procedures for rigid gas permeable contact lenses (RGP) lenses, in order to reduce the risk of acanthamoeba keratitis (AK). We have found the inferences of this publication insufficiently validated and largely biased, and we believe that the authors’ propositions are potentially dangerous for the health of RGP lens wearers. Our main conclusions are as follows: 1) there is no scientific evidence that the use of drinking tap water ONLY for rinsing RGP lenses with the view to fully remove daily cleaner, with subsequent disinfection is risk factor for AK; 2) before such an evidence is obtained, it should not be recommended to exclude tap water completely from all treatment regimens for RGP lenses; 3) access of water under the lens should be avoided, regardless of how it might happen; 4) any change of RGP lens treatment recommendations should not create new (and, possibly, more serious) risks for the lens wearer’s health // Russian Ophthalmological Journal, 2016; 1: 78-83.</p></trans-abstract><kwd-group xml:lang="ru"><kwd>контактные линзы</kwd><kwd>вода</kwd><kwd>акантамебный кератит</kwd><kwd>споласкивание</kwd><kwd>дезинфекция</kwd><kwd>contact lenses</kwd><kwd>tap water</kwd><kwd>Acanthamoeba keratitis</kwd><kwd>rinsing</kwd><kwd>disinfection</kwd></kwd-group></article-meta></front><back><ref-list><title>References</title><ref id="cit1"><label>1</label><citation-alternatives><mixed-citation xml:lang="ru">Legarreta J.E., Nau A.C., Dhaliwal D.K.
