Journal History

The "Russian Ophthalmological Journal” was founded in 1922, more than 95 years ago, by the Moscow Society of Ophthalmologists and came out till 1931. The first editors of the journal were Prof. Victor Odintsov and Prof. Mikhail Averbach, the founder of the Moscow Helmholtz Research Institute of Eye Diseases. We considered it our honorable duty to reestablish this periodical and thus maintain the great traditions that were established by our teachers and provide the continuity of the Russian ophthalmological school, which has always been at the forefront of the world's ophthalmology. In 2008, the journal was renewed.
