Features of white cataract: literature review
https://doi.org/10.21516/2072-0076-2026-19-3-168-173
Abstract
The review presents sources that describe the changes characteristic of white cataracts, as well as methods aimed at reducing the risk of complications of surgical treatment of this type of cataract. Literature analysis was carried out using the RSCI and PubMed databases. It is noted that the term “white cataract” is predominantly foreign and in the English-language literature is used as a collective concept for various forms of mature and overripe cataracts. According to published data, white cataracts require special attention due to the high percentage of intraoperative complications. In this regard, a thorough analysis of scientific publications considering the features of this type of cataract seems to be useful for specialists in terms of increasing safety and reducing the risks of surgical treatment of white cataracts.
